Release notes June 2022

To make managing and working with NEN Connect easier we have rolled out a new release. Apart from several buxfixes, we have implemented several improvements in NEN Connect.

Do you have questions, comments or suggestion? Please let us know.

+ Link with EU Legislation | Beta

When the Module Legislation and Regulations was launched, European legislation was immediately requested by users. We have succeeded in importing all standard references from EUR-Lex, the website with European guidelines. This allows us to show in our standards from which guidelines they are referred. From 2 June, the Legislation and Regulations module will show whether reference is made to a standard in EU legislation.

Please note: these are only the non-harmonised regulations. In NEN Connect there will be a direct link to the specific regulation. The source for this is EUR-Lex. References to standards in the harmonized regulations will follow later this year.

  • For the time being, the BETA will be offered free of charge to holders of the Legislation and Regulations module.

+ Link with the Machinery Directive (Machinery Ordenance)

In Europe, standards have been developed and published by CEN. The standards that have been specifically created for the purpose of elaborating requirements from the Machinery Directive are after publication by CEN presented to the European Commission with the request to include these standards in the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union). In the Module Legislation and Regulations you can see which standards are related to the Machinery Directive and also to which category they belong; A, B or C.

+ NEN and CROW link their documents

In collaboration with CROW NEN Connect has added links between standards and the CROW Knowledge Base in which a reference is made to these specific standards. All registered NEN Connect users, including the free users, can now see whether a standard is referred to in CROW. And they can also easily navigate to the relevant CROW document.

+ Date Of Withdrawal (DOW) for EN-standards

NEN Connect now also shows the Date Of Withdrawal at the EN standards. This date indicates the latest date by which conflicting standards must be withdrawn. Until this date has been reached, standards that have already been withdrawn in the Netherlands may still be valid in other European countries. We have therefore added a notice to these standards so that international users can see that the NEN-EN has been withdrawn, but may still be valid in other countries.

How can we improve NEN Connect even further?

We would love to hear from you how we can further develop NEN Connect.

With kind regards,
The NEN Connect team
